Commissions are how most of my favourite pieces have come about — a colour someone remembers from a particular beach, a shape that means something only to them, a gift with a date attached to it.

There are two ways this usually works. Some designs I can make again in your colours and size. Others are one-off pieces built around an idea you bring me. Both start the same way: tell me what you have in mind.

  1. Tell me what you have in mind

    A colour, a size, the wall it is going on, an occasion and a date. Nothing needs to be finished — a half-formed idea is a fine place to start.

  2. We agree the shape of it

    I will come back with what is possible, what it would cost, and roughly how long it will take. Rare colours can add weeks — sometimes I am waiting on the tide to produce them.

  3. I make it, and you see it before it ships

    You get a photograph of the finished piece before it leaves the studio. If something is not right, we fix it then.

These are designs rather than single pieces. Each one is built from whatever the beach has given up that season, so no two will ever be identical — but the idea, the size and the feel can be repeated in the colours you want.

These pieces have found their homes and are not for sale. They are here because they are the clearest answer to “what could you make?” — and because a commission usually starts with someone pointing at one of them.
